Is There a Way to Defeat Thanos?
Is it possible to defeat Marvel’s toughest and most powerful villain? If so, how can the heroes defeat this character? Find out the ways Thanos can be defeated.
Avengers: Endgame is by far one of the highest-grossing movies. It won the title with a $ 2.797 box office sale that is toe to toe with ‘Avatar’, which has the crown of the highest-grossing movie of all time. The success of Avengers: Endgame could be attributed to many things; from its production, cinematography, actors, and of course the portrayal of each character, be it heroes or villains.
It is not uncommon for heroes to gain more popularity rather than the antagonist. However, in this universe, it is not the case. Thanos is perhaps one of the most popular characters of Marvels either in the comics or in the cinematic world. His appearance in the movies was highly anticipated. And it was spurred on by several easter eggs in the prior movies.
Thanos is characterized to be the most powerful villain and enemy of the Marvel Universe. His character is a mutant, which is one of the reasons behind his powers. Thanos also has the ‘Deviant Syndrome,’ which is unique to his character.
Given such immense power, is it possible to defeat Marvel’s most powerful enemy?
Marvel themselves said that Thanos is not entirely invincible. He can be defeated by using these methods.
#1 The Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2
The Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2 was released in 1976. This issue showed a simple way to defeat somehow or at least damage Thanos. In this release, Thanos took out the Marvel heroes. He contended with Spiderman and Thing. He was gaining on the heroes; however, Spiderman freed Adam Warlock from the Soul Gem. Warlock was able to clutch Thanos and turned him into granite.
#2 Drax the Destroyer
Drax the Destroyer was Arthur Douglas in the comics. He is an Earthling who works as a real estate agent and lives with his wife and daughter Heather.
Mentor and Kronos seized Arthur’s astral entity into a humanoid body, giving birth to Drax the Destroyer. Mentor created Drax with the sole purpose of killing Thanos, who was becoming a grave threat to the universe.
#3 The Infinity Gauntlet
The Infinity Gauntlet #6 issue released in 1996 revealed one of the ways to defeat Thanos. In the issue, Thanos was able to collect the Infinity Gems and put them together in the Infinity Gauntlet.
The gauntlet provided him with even greater power, but it did not deter the zombified Nebula from sliding off the gauntlet from the Mad Titan’s hands. Nebula managed to restore the lost lives but was unable to hold the gauntlet’s power. Adam Warlock saved Nebula by taking control of the Gauntlet and split up the gems.
Thanos destroyed worlds only to find his son Thane. However, the heroes fought against him and the Black Order. In this fight, Thanos was close to winning until Ebony Maw used Thane’s powers to defeat Thanos. Ebony Maw convinced Thane to use his powers and turn his father into a statue.
