Climate Change and our Forests
Climate Change and our Forests
The Great Carbon Sink
with Steven Kozuki, COFI
PRINCE GEORGE – Join us Tuesday, February 10, 2009 for the Railway and Forestry Museum’s community oriented lecture series.
Climate change and global warming is considered by many to be the number one environmental threat facing the world today. But what is climate change, what are the causes, and what can we do about it?
How does the "carbon footprint" of wood compare to concrete, steel and plastic? Why is energy from fossil fuels a "carbon source" but energy from wood "carbon neutral"? Find out why forestry and the use of forest products is part of the global warming solution.
Our speaker, Steven Kozuki of the Council of Forest Industries (COFI) specializes in forest policy advocacy. Steve also contributes to COFI’s efforts in forest education, community relations, and market access and development.
