Bel Canto Choir Northern Voices Season Begins

Bel Canto Choirs and Northern Voices invite men and women, young and older… but especially men… who enjoy singing and can carry a tune, to the first rehearsal for the new season, Tuesday, October 21st, 7:45 – 9:15, at Zion Lutheran Church, 180 Tabor Blvd South.

The eight week project choir is a grassroots group that offers busy people a chance to perform in concerts and collaborate with other singers. All community members are invited to participate, but the women of the choir are putting out a special call to men.

“Our 2010 spring concert is called “Vintage” and features music from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. We need some great male voices to build the tenor and bass roles of this music”, says Artistic Director Jaclyn Riemer. “We’re still recruiting women for the choir, but we are really encouraging men to give it a try. The deep and drawn out ‘yeeeaaah” of this music just isn’t the same without that rockin’ bass!”

Along with the Bel Canto Youth Choir and Junior Choir, Northern Voices will present a Christmas Concert, “Classic Christmas”, 2:30 and 7:30, Saturday, December 12th, at the Prince George Playhouse.

Northern Voices is a member of the Bel Canto Choirs, a non-profit community choir committed to advancing the musical art form of choral singing for youth and adults, through education and performance. The fall membership fee for Northern Voices is $75.00.
