Wes McLeod Selected to Team Canada West Roster

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Spruce Kings are excited and honoured
with the selection of defenceman Wes McLeod to the Team Canada West roster
for the 2009 World Junior 'A' Challenge. Wes is one of twenty-two players
that will represent Canada West at the fourth annual WJAC from November 1-8,
2009 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

Drawing from a pool of players from the five Junior 'A' leagues in Western
Canada - British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), Alberta Junior Hockey League
(AJHL), Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), Manitoba Junior Hockey
League (MJHL) and Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) - Wes
McLeod is one of eleven BCHL'ers on the roster.

"After a high-intensity camp in Okotoks last month, we are confident we have
chosen the right players who can bring the gold medal back to Canada West,"
said Team Canada West head coach Rylan Ferster. "We are excited to get to
P.E.I. and take on some of the world's best."

An Evaluation Camp held in late September in Okotoks, Alberta saw forty
hopefuls vying to make the final cut. As a nineteen year old player, Wes is
one of the only five nineteen year old players eligible to play on the team.

"Wes was one of the guys up there and he did very very well," added Ferster
in an exclusive interview. "He brings a lot of different dimensions to the
game, offensively he's good but he also plays with a bit of an edge and he's
got a real good stick."

The selection of Wes McLeod is the fourth year in a row that Team Canada
West has had a member of the Prince George Spruce Kings on the roster. Team
Canada West has claimed silver and two gold medals in the first three years
of the World Junior 'A' Challenge and will be challenging teams from
Belarus, Russia, Sweden, the United States and Canada East. McLeod will
leave on October 26th with exhibition games on October 29th and 30th leading
up to the full tournament in Summerside, PEI from November 1-8, 2009.
