Garrett Thiessen Named Cougars Captain
PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Prince George Cougars Head Coach Dean Clark announced Wednesday that 20-year old defenceman Garrett Thiessen will be Captain of the Cougars for the balance of the 2009-10 season.
Art Bidlevskii, who started the season as Captain, will join Alex Rodgers and Brett Connolly as Assistant Captains.
Thiessen was acquired in September and is playing in his third season for the Cougars, also skating with the club for two seasons between 2006 and 2008. Thiessen has two assists and 80 penalty minutes for the Cougars this year in 30 games played.
“Garrett has shown us throughout the year his ability to be great leader for the team on and off the ice and is respected by everyone in the room,” said Cougars Head Coach Dean Clark. “Art approached the coaches about making the change and he felt moving forward this season that Garrett is best suited to be the team's Captain.”
