A Night Of Neon

We are well into the summer now, and electronic musicians Isaac Smeele, Marc Burns, and Sam Watkinson are hosting another extreme rave-style party this time at Third – a great new music venue at 1157 3rd Avenue.
Taking the stage will be four electronic acts each performing a different genre of electronic music: The night begins with Oxyvox, a duo between Smeele and Burns, which perform for the first half hour their style of trippy psychedelic trance music. Following them is Burns’ solo act “Indigo Carmine”. He will, for two hours, be DJing progressive trance, a melodic and exciting subgenre of trance music, one of the most popular genres of music in the world. Next Smeele takes the stage for 30 minutes as “Atomic Masses”, a new trip-hop act with backup from Watkinson. Finally, DJ Walko (Watkinson’s solo act) will mix for the remaining 3 or 4 hours of the night, performing a combination of house music, a club-centered genre which is all the rage in Europe and metropolises around the world, as well as “tech” trance, an intense and powerful genre heard in raves everywhere.
The event is called “Neon of Mass Destruction,” the first of many events to come in the trio’s newly created Mass Destruction franchise. Attendees are encouraged to wear flashy, colourful neon clothing, to accompany this event’s neon theme. Planned future events will include a beach-themed event, which will likely be held at an outdoor venue, an event with ample blacklighting and, provided the Aquatic Centre obliges, a Pool Party of Mass Destruction sometime in the fall.
Neon of Mass Destruction happens next Friday night at 8:00 pm, and will run until Saturday morning at 3:00 am. Guests aged 15 and over are welcome to attend, and the organizers ask that the event runs drug- and alcohol-free.
