Young Guns, Intrasquad Games On Tap Tuesday
Tuesday is the final day of Prince George Cougars training camp, with a pair of games on tap. With approximately 56 players currently attending camp, Cougars fans will have a chance to see the future stars of the club take part in the Young Guns Game Tuesday morning at 10am. In the evening, the Cougars annual Black vs. White Intrasquad Game will take place at 7:00pm at CN Centre, to help the Cougars bring their total number down once again, in preparation for the first exhibition game Saturday in Edmonton.
Cougars camp started with just over 80 players on Saturday in what has proven to be a very competitive group. Cougars management and scouting staff have been very impressed with the talent that has been shown out of their youngest prospects, players born in 1994 and '95. Those young players will be showcased once again Tuesday morning in the Young Guns Game, with 2010 WHL Bantam Draft first overall pick Alex Forsberg suiting up for Team Betts, against 17-year old Caleb Belter and Team Petrovicky. Belter was the Cougars second pick in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft, hoping to earn a spot with the big club for 2010-11.
Many of the veterans will be back on the ice tonight at 7:00pm in the Black vs. White Intrasquad Game. Admission to the game is $2 for fans 12 years of age and older. Following the intrasquad game, the Cougars expect to have their roster down to approximately 30 players, as the team will then get ready for a two game event in St. Albert, just outside Edmonton, this coming weekend. The Cougars play their first pre-season game Saturday at 2:00pm Pacific Time against the Medicine Hat Tigers, then face-off with the Swift Current Broncos. Puck drop will be at 2:00pm PT. The Cougars come home to face the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11. Puck drop for both games is 7:00pm at CN Centre. The Cougars then finish the exhibition schedule with a home and home against the Kamloops Blazers, starting in Kamloops on September 17. The Cougars and Blazers will meet the following night at CN Centre, starting at 7:00pm
The Prince George Cougars begin their 17th season against the Blazers in Kamloops on Friday, September 24. The Cougars home opener will be on Friday, October 1 against the Vancouver Giants. Season Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
