Audition FAQ's:
Q: How do I book a spot? Can I just show up?
A: 10 minute slots must be booked in advance (If you need longer/ extra set-up time, let us know). E-mail pgsgottalent [at] live [dot] ca with your name, talent, and the exact date and time slot you want. We ALWAYS REPLY, so if you don't hear back it means we didn't get it!
Q: Do I need to bring a costume/ stereo/ props/ CD/ mic/ instrument/ etc?
A: Bring everything you need! All you are given is space to perform- so if you need music, bring your own stereo.
Q: What do I audition with? Can I change my act once I get in?
A: Audition with what you want to perform in the show. Once you get in, we are flexible if you wish to change your selection after consulting with us.
Q: I am part of a choir/ band/ group. Can we audition together?
A: Absolutely! You can have as many people as you wish in your act.
Q: Is this a competition?
A: This is not a competition. The auditions determine who is performing in the show, and there is no winner chosen.
Q: What is the commitment level?
A: The show, preparation and three rehearsals: two rehearsals during Christmas break and one the weekend of the show. You must be able to attend ALL rehearsals and performances. Absences will result in elimination from the show.
Q: I auditioned/ performed last year. Does that give me a better chance of getting in this year?
A: Each year is a blank slate. If you auditioned last year and didn't get in, you can still wow us this year, and if performed last year, it doesn't mean your spot is guaranteed (of course, you can still impress us again!)
Q: What is the judging criteria?
A: Audience appeal is the #1 factor. We also aim to select a variety of different pieces, so try to stand out. Grade levels and past experience won't alter your eligibility, but we will notice if you can capture our attention.
Q: What is most impressive to the judges?
A: Come 5-10 minutes early, have your act prepared (e.g. memorized and performance-ready), and be confident in yourself. Telling us that you are sick and sound horrible today or giving us other excuses virtually kills all chances of you getting in- this applies to all auditions folks!
Q: I have been selected as a finalist. What dates should I book off?
Rehearsals- Dec 22, 29
Dress Rehearsal- Jan 7
Show Date- Jan 8
Q: What do I get out of this?
A: You get performance opportunities, networking with the most talented artists in Prince George, media publicity, professional photographs, and a phenomenal experience- just ask anyone who was in it last year!
