Blues Underground Network Assists Young Musicians

On Wednesday, May 7, the Blues Underground Network donated 10 acoustic guitars to 10 students from Mr. Toyata's Guitar class at Duchess Park Secondary School. As well, Blues Underground is providing those students with extra guitar lessons which will be taught by David Rubadeau from Sound Entertainment. It is hoped that Blues Underground will be able to replicate this project at the other schools where students get Guitar classes.

On Tuesday, May 26, Blues Underground will be presenting a Blues Piano Workshop which will be taught by 2006 Juno Winner Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne. He has received Maple Blues Awards recognizing him as Canada's top Blues Piano Player in three of the last four years. This should be an excellent experience for the young piano players who will be in attendance. Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne will be in Prince George to do a concert at Artspace on Sunday, May 25.

This past March, Blues Underground donated a performance by Juno winner Jack Semple to students at Duchess Park.

The Blues Underground Network will continue to donate money to the School District's Band Programs. The money is used to help with such things as instrument repair and purchasing sheet music.

The Blues Underground Network in Prince George raises money to help young Prince George musicians improve their skills by putting on Dances from September to May. As well, Blues Underground is a co-host of the Railway Blues Festival on June 21.
