Has rising river flooded Simon Fraser construction?

I live right beside the Simon Fraser Bridge and have been observing the construction progress on a daily basis. I've been particularly interested in the steel chambers that were built prior to the construction of the cement bridge supports and how the river has been rising nearer and nearer the top.

Presumably these steel cages were created to keep the water out while the piles were built - at least that's what it looked like when I saw footage on Shaw Cable.

But this weekend it looks like the river has risen enough to overflow into the chambers:

I'm not sure if this was expected or planned, or if it will cause a costly delay in construction.

I've put a call into The Citizen, and night editor Rodney Venis says he'll look into it.

I'm curious to see what the real story is.

I'll update the post as I find out. Please feel free to comment if you know anything.

Update - 8:24 pm: A pic of one of the piles taken from above on the Simon Fraser Bridge:

Update - 9:40 am 5/20/08: Apparently the flooded cofferdams (that's the proper term for them) are no big deal. Opinion 250 has a story here.
