Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Opportunity
The Canadian Cancer Society has been given the opportunity to provide a volunteer program in the Regional Cancer Unit at the Prince George Regional Hospital.
Volunteers will provide assistance to the Staff at the Cancer Unit by: welcoming cancer patients and their families/friends, overseeing the coffee machine and literature rack, maintaining the wig room, preparing teaching packages for patients and caregivers, assisting patients and their families with finding appropriate sites on the computer, maintaining a library for patients, and when appropriate, identifying and making referrals to applicable CCS information, resources, services and contacts.
The program is targeted to commence in January 2008.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please provide your name and contact information to:
Mary Anne McCormick: ma4 [at] shaw [dot] ca or 960-2690
Lorraine Grant: lorgran [at] shaw [dot] ca or 964-6574
Canadian Cancer Society Regional office: north [at] bc [dot] cancer [dot] ca or 564-0885
This is an exciting program to get underway with hopes that it will only get stronger as the plans for the Cancer Unit in the north progress.
Thank you very much for giving this your consideration,
Lorraine Grant
